Post Graduate Diploma in inclusive and Special Education (PGDISE)

Introduction

This programme has been prepared in line with the Education & Human Resources Plan of the Replublic of Mauritius 2008-2020, the Policy and Strategy Document on Special Education Needs and inclusive Education in Mauritius as well as with the Strategic Plan of the Mauritius Institute of Education.

This programme will be delivered through a mixed mode with a practical orientation including face to face sessions, self studies, attachments, mini projects and a major project over one and a half years(3 semesters).

Objectives of the programme

This programme seeks to develop knowledge, skills, abilities, dispositions and other competencies in Special and Inclusive Education provision for children with disabilities, children from socially deprived areas and/or children with other special needs to enable trainees to engage in creative and constructive trainings.

Target group

The training course is intended for teacher educators who will be engaged in training in inclusive and special education.

In addition, it will target practitioners who work with children with disabilities, children from socially deprived areas and/or children with other special needs.

As per general entry requirements for admission to post-graduate degrees of the Mauritius Institute of Education.

Programme Requirements

The Post Graduate Diploma in inclusive and Special Education (PGDISE) Part Time programme is offered to teacher educators and practitioners with the following profiles: First degree with PGCE or a B.Ed or a minimum of three years post degree experience in the educational sector or an alternative qualification acceptable to the institution.
